The Cordoba Mosque

Christie's retires five large beams from the Cordoba Mosque from sale

It was expected to happen, and finally it happens: the controversial created by the announcement of the Christie's sale of a group of five large beams from the Cordoba Mosque (read theartwolf's first news about the sale of Mosque's beams) has ended with the retirement of the pieces from the sale, and the London based auction house has announced that a series of conversations with the Spanish Culture Department will begin shortly, trying to agree a private deal that allows Spain to recover its Patrimony

The return of an antiquity to its original context is always a positive new, although this withdrawn will let us with the doubt about the final price that the pieces could have achieved; possibly well over its €150,000 - 450,000 estimate. All this controversy would have been the best publicity for it.
