October 5th 2007 – 4 years after its robbery in Drumlanring Castle, Northern Scotland, the “Madonna of the yarnwinder” (sometimes known as the “Madonna of the reel”) has been recovered in Glasgow. The work is attributed to Leonardo da Vinci (although in theartwolf.com we have expressed our doubts about this attribution) and valued in 30 million pounds ($55 million), according to many sources.

The painting belongs to the collection of the Duke of Buccleuch, dead in 2006, and was exhibited in the Drumlanring Castle. In 2003, a group of Art thieves posing as tourist stole the painting. The FBI placed the painting in its “Top 10 most wanted pieces of Art”
